Dania is found at 26°03′18″N 80°09′11″W. It’s a city in Broward County, Florida, United States, part of the South Florida metropolitan area, near Pembroke Pines, FL area. The city was formerly known as the “Tomato Capital of the World” before it became an urban metropolis, adopting the name “The Antique Capital of the South.” This is because of many antique shops in the center of Dania Beach, particularly along Federal Highway, which is the city’s “Antique Row”.

Dania Beach Boundaries are:

North – Fort Lauderdale

South – Hollywood

East – Hollywood and the Atlantic Ocean

West – Davie along with the Hollywood Seminole Indian Reservation

Dania Beach was called Dania until 1998. The area was formerly known as a neighborhood called Modello in the late nineteenth century.  Then the area was incorporated as Dania in November 1904, because the majority of the 35 residents were farmers of Danish ancestry. On January 4, 1926, residents of Dania voted to join the City of Hollywood.

Following September 1926’s devastating Miami hurricane, most of Dania’s section on Hollywood withdrew from the city and reincorporated. The areas that opted to stay part of the City of Hollywood are responsible for Dania’s current noncontinuous city limits. Dania formally changed its name to Dania Beach in November 1998. The city’s previous name, Dania, is still in use today by many. Many unincorporated areas of Broward County joined Dania Beach in the year 2001. This increased the population by more than 3,000 people. The Fort Lauderdale Airport station on the Tri-Rail provides service to Dania Beach. Buses from Broward County Transit also serve the area.

Dania Beach is a part of the Miami-Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood media market. It is one of the largest radio markets and television markets in the United States.
