McWane Science Center is located at 200 19th St N, Birmingham, AL 35203, United States. It’s a nonprofit museum with an IMAX® dome theater. From an incredible variety of dinosaurs to cutting-edge environmental displays, fantastic early childhood playgrounds, and an astounding aquarium, the museum has four floors of engaging exhibits that celebrate science and wonder. The excitement rises in the IMAX® Dome Theater, where spectators get to see and hear the sights and sounds of breathtaking movies on a 5-story-tall screen with 3 tons of high-intensity speakers.
In 1998, the Red Mountain Museum and Discovery Place joined to form McWane Science Center, an engaging interactive science museum. The historic and restored Loveman’s department store building serves as the home of this state-of-the-art museum. Its construction played a big part in Birmingham, AL’s downtown renaissance. The McWane Science Center was built to encourage a lifelong passion for learning and has already drawn millions of visitors since its inception. Children and adults from across the world come to visit every year to explore, discover, hear, touch, and experience science in this one-of-a-kind venue.

It helps in creating a science and math literate public that includes children from all socioeconomic levels, races, ethnicities, and genders.
